Biography

Kane Mayfield

Kane Mayfield is a creative originally from Long Island, New York. In 2005, he moved to Baltimore, Maryland, where he would be embraced by the local hip-hop scene and signed by local record label Mania Music Group. He continued to make a name for himself, “rapping his ass off” (Spin.com). Mayfield has opened for notable artists Slick Rick and Prhyme while appearing in publications like the Baltimore Sun, Vice, Noisey, and Stereogum.

In addition to being an accomplished performing artist, Mayfield is a talented visual artist. Much like his music, his digital art is bold, full of substance, and unyielding. His work has appeared at Art Basel 2021 and NFT NYC 2021. Mayfield relocated to Saint Augustine, Florida in 2015. These days, Kane has become a staple in the growing NFT scene. His work is available on Opensea, Kalamint, and other NFT Marketplaces. Mayfield hosts a show on Discord via the Tokensmart community called Public School, which he describes as “a weekly show dedicated to the edutainment of the web3 and crypto space”. Past guests include Hip-Hop Legends like Buckshot (Black Moon), Bobbito Garcia, Tek (Smif n Wessun), D&D Studios, Ill Bill (Non Phixion), and companies like such as The Kennedy Center, Unstoppable Domains, and Kalamint.

In 2022, Mayfield will release “Handprints”, a music and art NFT on Scare.City featuring original art created using GAN technology. His song “Handprints”, from his album The Art of Rap, originally released in 2015, is an honest look at child labor and human trafficking, over a 90’s Hip-Hop break, melancholy keys, and visual lyrics that merge both bravado and social consciousness. Twenty percent of the proceeds from the initial auctions will be donated to the non-profit charitable foundation, FACT Alliance, a coalition of activists created to fight the tragedy of Human Trafficking, the Global Sex Trade, and Modern Day Slavery.
